EXPLAINER VIDEOS

Turn complex ideas into clear stories.

An explainer video turns complex products, technologies, services or ideas into a clear and engaging visual story. It helps your audience understand what something is, how it works and why it matters without overwhelming them with information.

Explainer videos are particularly effective for B2B companies working with technology, SaaS, technical products or complex services. They can be used on websites, landing pages, marketing campaigns, sales presentations, product launches and customer onboarding.

The visual approach depends on your story and the audience you're trying to reach. Most projects are created as 2D animation using Adobe After Effects. This offers a flexible and efficient way to visualise processes, concepts, data and abstract ideas.

When a product, environment or technical process benefits from depth, detail or realism, I use 3D animation in Cinema 4D. In some projects, 2D and 3D are combined to create the most effective visual language.

The goal is not simply to create something that looks good. It is to make complex information easier to understand, easier to remember and more engaging to experience.

ABOUT THE PROCESS

To simplify the complex production process of an animated explainer video, I have divided the process into eight steps:

1. IDEA

It all starts with an idea. Together we discuss the goal and the video ideas during an introductory meeting. In this conversation we will identify what the core message and who the targetgroup of the video is. This first step is completely without any obligations and free of charge.

2. SCRIPT

Next the video script. The input for this comes from you, where in most cases I will write the actual script. In practice, the rule is 140 words = 1 minute of film. Only after a final approval on the script we go to step 3.

3. VOICE-OVER (optional)

Step 3 is to record the voice-over by a professional voice actor (or with AI), in any desired language and tone of voice. The audio file is most of the time the guiding principle of the film in terms of pace and timing.

4. MUSIC (optional)

The music could also serve as a guideline for the video in terms of pace and timing. In this case the music dictates the rythm of the video as a whole. This is a choice. We could also add a subtle background piece at the end of the proces.

5. BRIEFING - IN DEPTH MEETING

During this dynamic (online) appointment we will dive into your story and I will present the first visual ideas based on the script. We will repeat this step until we got your story right!

6. STORYBOARD

In this step the storyboard is created. This is a static representation of the intended video and style. We will discuss the storyboard again in a meeting and process any feedback.

7. ANIMATION

This is where the magic happens. The storyboard, art boards (and/or animatic) is brought to life by taking full responsibility for each and every single keyframe =)

8. REVISION - DELIVERY

You will have an unlimited amount* of revision rounds. I won’t stop until you are completely satisfied with the end product. The final version can be delivered in any desired format.
